About Alpaca

Alpaca is a small and fast-growing team of ML researchers and engineers focused on building next-generation creative tools powered by generative models. We want to build out the medium for a seamless and expressive interaction space between users and models while fundamentally rethinking the way in which creative work can be done. We’re excited about pushing new frontiers in research and design, shipping features that look and feel like magic, and fostering a dynamic community around our work.

About the role

We’re looking for an ML researcher who is excited about taking research objectives all the way through to the final mile — we want to be able to ship ML capabilities that truly work in a polished and complete way. We’ll be working right on the cutting-edge of a fast-paced and growing field of research, implementing and experimenting with new techniques as they are made available, as well as driving our own internal research agenda.

What you’ll do:

• Collaborate with Engineering to implement and optimize state-of-the art models and techniques for training and fine-tuning scenarios
• Collaborate with Design to ideate on and design novel implementations of ML models for targeted use-cases

What you’ll need:

• Proficiency with the fundamentals of deep learning
• Deep knowledge of the current literature around generative models
• Experience with training and fine-tuning deep learning models (bonus points for hands-on experience with generative models and/or diffusion-based models)
• Solid grasp on a deep learning framework (preferably Pytorch)
• Track record of seeing impactful research projects through to completion (publications, blog posts, shipping models, open-source, etc)
